We have had a CWL Section here for 40 years.
Margaret Fletcher founded the CWL in 1906 to organize Catholic women to
take a more active part in the work of the Church and be involved in local,
national and international affairs. This was a very "modern" concept in the
early days of the 20th century - to such an extent that these aims are just
as applicable today in the 21st century.
In Mill Hill we run a varied programme, arranging guest
speakers with diverse subjects and we have spiritual evenings in Advent and
Lent. This year we had a half-day retreat at the Abbey of St. Mary at the
Cross in Edgware. We also have plenty of fun and an offshoot group who knit
and crochet on Wednesday afternoons.
We run cake and coffee mornings and have raised over £500
this year. There are 31 of us and we would welcome new members.
The CWL Knitting and Crochet Club is looking for
new members. If you would like to join our friendly group, everyone welcome
from beginners to advanced. Bring your work or start a new project over a
cup of tea and a chat at this friendly, informal club. Wednesdays from 2 to
4 pm in the Parish Hall. Looking forward to seeing you there.
