Children's Liturgy and Choir

The Liturgy of the Word for our younger children is now
part of the 10.00 am Mass on Sundays during term-time (except when there is
a first communion or confirmation Mass). All primary school children are
invited to celebrate their own Liturgy of the Word in the hall with a group
of catechists. We want our children to have a community worship experience
and to know that they are part of that experience. Parents may bring younger
children if they feel they will benefit. The children gather at the front of
the church and, led by the Book of the Word, the children and their leaders
process to the hall where they listen to a simplified version of the Gospel
of the day. There is some discussion and an activity to help the children
understand. This is followed by a simple Creed and bidding prayers. The
children return to the Church — often with some evidence of what they have
been doing — bringing the Liturgy of the Word to an end. Some of the
children are then invited to bring the offertory gifts and the Liturgy of
the Eucharist begins. We are always looking for volunteers . If you would
like to help, please contact the presbytery.
A children's
choir is beginning for the older children. Let's encourage our children to
participate in our celebration. If you would like to help, please contact
the presbytery (020 8959 1021).
