The Legion Of Mary
The Legion Of Mary is a worldwide organization, living and fulfilling the
ideals of the decree on the lay apostolate. Subjectively it is concerned
with the spiritual formation of its members through prayer and action under
ecclesiastical guidance.
Its mission is to be at the disposal of the Parish Priest for all forms
of evangelization and pastoral care, so as to bring all people to Christ
through Mary.
The Praesidium (group) in the Parish, Our Lady Queen Of Peace, meets
every Tuesday in the Presbytery Library, at 7.30 p.m. There are five active
members and over seventy auxiliary members. We visit the sick at home and in
hospital, and the housebound. We lead the Rosary each weekday in the church.
In October the Pilgrim statue of Our Lady is brought to the sick and the
Rosary is said with them. Children are also introduced to the Rosary. We
attend pilgrimages and retreats and we have special Masses offered for our
deceased members.
Membership is open to both men and women over the age of eighteen, and
new members are always welcome.
As a confirmed Catholic you have been given gifts by the Holy Spirit. You
have a choice either to hide those gifts or seek them. We are all called to
share our gifts and talents. Come and join your efforts with Mary.
You are invited to attend meetings and find out more, without any
obligation.
There is also a Junior Legion of Mary for
young people from 9 to 17 years of age. Meetings are held on Thursday
evenings in the Presbytery at 6.00pm. New members are always welcome.
