PPC Social Group
The work of this committee, like all of them, is
concerned with building up the parish community. It is responsible for
liaising with other Parish organisations on social functions and
co-ordinating the involvement of other Parish Groups to support the common
goal. In addition, it organises some social functions on behalf of the PPC.
Some of its work is mainly social such as the coffee mornings and the
refreshments after the Carol Service. Other work has a charity dimension
e.g. the Christmas card and cake sale in November. (£600 worth of Traidcraft
cards and £850 of Catholic Children Society's cards were sold. In excess of
£1000 was raised for parish funds and £50 sent to the Passage). The money
raised at the Indulgence evening in February, £750, was sent to a Vincentian
charity in the Philippines. The very successful International Evening was
not intended to be a money raising event, but thanks to the generosity of
all those who donated the wonderful array of food, a profit was made and
consequently £440 was sent to Fr Paul Roche CM for his work in Kiev. The
Group also co-ordinated the work of the various Parish organisations in
staging the Parish Picnic at St Vincent School that followed the Parish Open
Air Mass. |
