Mill Hill Churches' Good Neighbour Scheme

The scheme needs volunteer drivers to provide local transport. We also need volunteers to join our team of minibus escorts who are:

bullet

Friendly, helpful, and in reasonable health.

bullet

Available some Mondays from 9.30 am until 1.15 pm.

bullet

Able to help lift shopping into and out of a minibus.

There is also an opportunity to do your own shopping at Morrison's®, Queensbury or Brent Cross shopping centre.

If you can help, please phone Good Neighbours on 020 8906 3340.

Without volunteers, the weekly trips to Morrison's® and Brent Cross, Tuesday Luncheon Club, visits to the lonely and housebound, and the many lifts to local hospitals, clinics and GPs would not have taken place. The Scheme can only expand as the number of volunteers increases. So if you are able to spare some time, however short, to support our Mill Hill Churches Local Ecumenical Project please do call the GNS office on 8906 3340.

In particular Volunteer drivers are needed to collect the Luncheon Club food from the kitchens at Grahame Park at 11.45 on Tuesday mornings, or to return the empty tins after 1.30 pm. At most it would be a commitment once a month, but even an occasional promise to help would be very welcome! The kitchen staff do most of the lifting of tins into the car, and the Harwood Hall caretaker, Peter lifts the food out. There is also a petrol allowance available. If you would like more details please phone Jeanette or Patricia at the office on 8906 3340.

If you live in Mill Hill or Burnt Oak, have difficulty using public transport, but can shop unassisted once at the centre, and would like to be considered for the scheme, please contact the office on 020 8906 3340.

Luncheon Club

The Good Neighbour Scheme for Mill Hill and Burnt Oak runs a small friendly Luncheon Club on Tuesdays at: The Wilberforce Centre, St Paul's Church, The Ridgeway, Mill Hill, London NW7 1QU, starting at 12.00 noon. A two course hot meal, with a cup of tea or coffee costs £3.00. The Good Neighbour Scheme also offers less mobile people a chance to try out the Tuesday Luncheon Club. This has been made possible because of several large donations, which have enabled us to hire a minibus and driver to collect people from their homes fortnightly. We often have a few places to spare on the minibus. If you are interested, further details can be obtained from the GNS office on 020 8906 3340.

We have a few vacancies for clients who would like to join the stroke club. If you know of someone, please leave their contact details at the presbytery (020 8959 1021)  or ring 020 8906 1227 or 020 8959 2130.

Do you pay income tax?

If you do, you could help the parish by joining the Planned Giving Scheme. For every £1 that you give we can claim back an additional 28p from the Inland Revenue.

If you do not pay income tax, you can still help by using our envelopes or having a Standing Order.
